Three prototypes of the 2017 Ford GT were pulled over for speeding yesterday in Glenwood Canyon, Colorado.
The test mules, filmed and pictured during a separate outing in Colorado, were pulled over by police officers from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol.
Local news outlet Vail Daily doesn’t reveal if the Ford engineers driving the prototypes were fined and just how fast they were travelling. They were said to be going “way faster than the 50 mph speed limit” however.
The vehicles were in the area for high-altitude testing as development of the all-new GT supercar continues.
Production of the GT will commence next year and in the coming four years, fewer than 1,000 units will be built. Driving each will be a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine delivering upwards of 700 hp. Mated exclusively to a quick-shifting automatic transmission, the third-generation GT has the makings of being a European supercar slayer.
